HEALTH: A SEMESTER IN REVIEW

As this year/semester is coming to an end, I would like to take this time to thank each and every one of you. You have added your personality, knowledge, and presence that helped to create the welcoming learning environment that I am proud to call my classroom. Your stories and varying perspectives helped your peers and myself gain more knowledge with respect to various units of study. It is my hope that you have learned at least one life lesson that you will take with you after leaving this class. Remember: "Every life has a story," "Be true to yourself," and "The lessons you learn in high school might not always be from a book."

Please take this time to reflect on your Health Education experience in my class. Answer the following questions in an APPROPRIATE manner:

1) What is your favorite memory in Health?

2) What LIFE LESSON will you take from my class?

3) What was your favorite unit? Why?

4) How will this class help you succeed in the "real world?"

5) Have I influenced you in any way? ... If so how?

6) Any other comments

Don't forget to type your FIRST and LAST NAME & HOUR :)

I wish you all the best of luck in high school and in life.

CONSEQUENCES OF UNDERAGE PARTICIPATION

Three members of the high school football team were suspended from playing for the rest of the season because they were caught drinking and participating with illegal narcotics at a private party.

Write a letter to the editor of the school newspaper (The Lakeland Talon) giving your opinion about the situation.

Questions to consider in your post:

2) In your opinion, is this a motivational piece of technology you would like to continue to use?
3) Would you rather blog in class or at home? (or both?)
4) Was it easy to do?
5) Likes?
6) Dislikes/Frustrations?
7) What went well?
8) What types of posts would you like to see in the future? (ex. opinion questions? debate questions?)
9) Any other comments?
For example: "I work better on a computer than I do out of a book." -GM

Please answer this blog post to the best of your ability.

In order to keep you motivated and engaged in learning, it is my hope that blogging will be a beneficial tool to use in Health :) Your responses will be taken into account in order to improve my teaching. I appreciate your time :)

Thanks,
Ms.A

Benefits of Physical Activity

Persuasive e-mail:
After reading about the benefits of physical activity, write an e-mail to an inactive friend.  In the e-mail you should persuade your friend to get more exercise by describing the benefits of physical activity.  Include a list of the sports and recreational activities one could participate.
(2-3 paragraphs)

Note: You may research other benefits of physical activity not found in your book (Chapter 13.1), however make sure you give credit where credit is due. For example:  According to the CDC, regular physical activity is important for good health, and it's especially important if you're trying to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight. (www.cdc.gov)

If you are using an online source, make sure it is credible. Wikipedia is NOT a credible source.
